Missouri Right to Life Press Release For Immediate Release For Information: "All of the pro-life community in Missouri was let down, in some cases by people who ran for office on their pro-life record and even worked to defeat Amendment 2. It's hard to understand how these people can change their opinion on the impact of Amendment 2 so completely and so quickly. Being pro-life is more than being opposed to abortion. A human life has dignity and worth at every stage of development. No one should have the right to create and destroy human beings, and certainly not with taxpayer money," said Pam Fichter, President of Missouri Right to Life. Amendment 3 to HCS HB 2007, introduced by Rep. Belinda Harris (D-100), was also defeated. This amendment would have eliminated funding for the Missouri Technology Corporation, a private entity that is headed by Donn Rubin, a leading advocate of research to clone and kill human embryos and a key player in the campaign to pass Amendment 2. "It's very hard to watch the Missouri House of Representatives cave in to the cloning interests under the disguise of funding ethical research," said Fichter. On Thursday, March 27, the Missouri House passed HCS HB 2007 which contains the objectionable appropriations."
